About The Humbard Family Home
Welcome. I'm Rex Humbard. I spent many years on the road with my Father, Rex Humbard Sr. as he traveled the globe with his worldwide Television Ministry.
In 1980, my wife Suzy and I were searching for a beautiful, safe location to relocate our family of five. We discovered a wonderful community in the heart of Palm Beach County, Quail Ridge Country Club. Our decision was made and we have never regretted it. Our first home was in the Meadowlark Villa area and later we moved to a 3200 square foot home in an area known as Partridge Place. In 1990, for business reasons we moved to the Moneterey Peninsula, in Central California.
After spending 10 years in Monterey we decided to move back to the State of Florida. We made an exhaustive search of the New Real Estate Developments and once again found that Quail Ridge was the place for us. This time we decided to make our home in the Sandpiper area in a Garden Terrace Condo Home. Our three children had married or moved to other communities so the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Suites was perfect for us.
We immediately contacted an award winning designer, Debra Hutchinson, of DHI Interiors to create and supervise the work to our Home in Quail. The entire unit was taken to bare concrete. All cabinets and doors were removed, the ceilings cleaned of the “PopCorn” look and plastered ceilings were created. The unit was completely cleared of all previous construction. All new custom, solid wood cabinets, were installed in the Kitchen and Bathrooms along with granite counter tops in the Kitchen and Marble counter tops in the Baths. In the kitchen all GE Profile appliances were installed.
Non-structural walls were removed from the bathrooms to allow us to install tempered glass shower and bath enclosures. The wall leading into the Grand Living Room was reduced by five feet to open up the entrance into the home. Beautiful tile was installed through out the home with the exception of the bedrooms, where 100% wool Berber Carpet was laid. Crown molding was installed in each room and decorative trim was placed on each of the solid wood doors in the home. Custom closets were installed in each of the bedrooms. New Air Conditioning and Water Heater units are working perfectly.
The back porch of the home was enclosed and air conditioned. New slider doors were installed. This area gives us a beautiful view of the golf course and gives us an area to work at our custom made solid wood desks. We installed a large sink in the laundry room along with a new GE Washer and Dryer.
Neither Suzy or I know of any other Garden Terrace Home with a sink in the laundry room. During construction all Telephone and Direct TV wires were pulled to their proper location, allowing us to have DirectTv and Internet Service in every room of the home. Our DirectTv dish was hand painted, with an air brush, so that the dish would blend in with the planting in the area.

Complete video and audio surround systems are found in each bedroom and the great room as well. The home is located approximately 100 feet from the Sandpiper Swimming Pool, which is maintained by the Quail Ridge Club. We made the decision to do extra landscaping outside the condo. Installed was a completely new sprinkler system and landscaping package, including two large decorative rocks, at an out of pocket cost of over $6000.00.

The total costs of the work done, in the home, was approximately $110,000 and took five and one-half months to complete. If you were to purchase a Terrace Condo Home now, the current day costs would certainly be much greater. In addition, to create concepts, securing drawings, approvals and construction permits, would surely be at least 6 months of work until completion.
